Cruising Alaska

Alaska reveals itself differently from the water. Cruising Alaska is a photographic journey through the quiet drama of the Inside Passage—mist-covered mountains, remote shorelines, glaciers, fishing communities, wildlife, and the constantly changing relationship between sea, sky, and light. Made both from aboard ship and while exploring Alaska’s coastal communities, these photographs are less about documenting a destination and more about capturing a sense of place. Fog, rain, reflections, weather, distance, and fleeting moments become part of the landscape. The resulting images reflect my approach to fine art photography: looking beyond the obvious view to find atmosphere, solitude, scale, and the unexpected details encountered along the way. — Gordy Lee
